Ruth Jackson & Family presents the 13th Annual Family & Friends Community Day! The event will be held on Saturday, March 12', 2011 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This event began in 1999 when an award was given by San Francisco's Mayor Willie Brown Jr. and proclaiming the day as "Ruth Jackson's Family Day”. This year we will have our 2nd Annual Parade, hoping to bring the entire Valley together. To accomplish this we have invited the participation of the Precision Drill Team, Black Cowboys, and the Desperados. The SF Cable Cars, Fire Department, Police Department and the Bay Area Black Nurses Association, Inc., will also be present to support the cause of "CHANGE the Game": a community Coping. Hoping And Never Giving Excuses.

The residents of the Visitacion Valley Community would like to acknowledge the fine work you have done in the past to build our community. We are home to one of the largest housing developments in San Francisco consisting of all multi-racial backgrounds. Last year's event brought about 400+ individuals together from every multi-racial background, regardless of turf issues.

Each year Ruth Jackson & Family host this celebration to commemorate the unselfish acts of the community services that support the youth and families of the Visitacion Valley Community.
